Noida International Airport Partners With ePlane for Delhi-NCR Air Taxis and Air Ambulances
The agreement covers landing facilities, charging infrastructure, trial operations and regulatory planning for future electric aircraft services.

Noida International Airport has signed a memorandum of understanding with The ePlane Company to develop the infrastructure and operating arrangements for planned electric air taxis and emergency air ambulances in Delhi-NCR.
Announced on 8 October 2026, the collaboration centres on ePlane’s e200X, an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, or eVTOL. Proposed applications include airport-to-airport journeys, travel within cities and emergency medical transport.
The partnership brings airport infrastructure planning alongside aircraft development. Commercial services will depend on successful testing, certification and the necessary operating approvals.
Noida International Airport’s Role in the Partnership
The airport’s operator, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, will allocate space for proof-of-concept trials, vertiports and charging facilities. A vertiport is a landing and departure facility designed for aircraft that take off and land vertically.
The partners have outlined the following responsibilities:
| Area | Planned work |
|---|---|
| Airport facilities | Space for trials, vertiports and aircraft charging |
| Operating procedures | Adapt airport procedures to accommodate eVTOL services |
| Aircraft development | Continue e200X prototyping, testing and certification work |
| Regulatory coordination | Engage with aviation regulators, air traffic control authorities and state governments |
| Fleet management | Develop vertiport management and AI-assisted scheduling systems |
The announcement also identifies clearances from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, or DGCA, and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, or BCAS, among ePlane’s responsibilities.
What Is the e200X Electric Aircraft?
The e200X is being developed to combine vertical take-off and landing with forward flight. Its design is intended to support short journeys using compact landing facilities.
According to the Technology Development Board, the passenger version is configured for one pilot and two passengers, with a targeted range of 110 kilometres and an intended operating speed of approximately 160 kilometres per hour.
These figures describe development objectives and the proposed configuration. They should be understood as targets while the aircraft progresses through testing and certification.
The ePlane Company says its full-scale e200X PT-01 prototype has been unveiled and is undergoing ground testing. Its published development timeline records DGCA acceptance of the aircraft’s type-certification application in 2024. Acceptance of an application is a step in the certification process, rather than confirmation that the aircraft is cleared for commercial passenger service.
Drone Trials Will Help Prepare Airport Operations
The partnership includes a staged approach to testing how the proposed services would operate.
Founder Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy said the company intends to validate operating models through drone trials before moving to piloted e200X flights. The objective is to develop ground procedures and airspace coordination alongside the aircraft.
The announcement also includes plans for AI-assisted fleet scheduling and integration with smart-city systems. These are proposed operational capabilities, with implementation still to be developed.
For an airport, the practical questions include coordinating arrivals and departures, managing charging and keeping new aircraft operations compatible with existing traffic. Trials can help establish how those activities work together before regular services are introduced.
How the Air Ambulance Plan Could Work
Emergency medical transport is a separate application of the e200X platform.
The company describes its proposed air ambulance configuration as accommodating a pilot, a patient and a paramedic, with space for a standard hospital stretcher and medical equipment. It is also developing the platform for applications involving the transport of organs and blood.
The potential benefit is a quicker connection between suitable landing points when road travel is difficult. The actual usefulness of such a service would depend on the complete transfer process, including ground transport, hospital access, aircraft availability and coordination with medical teams.
The airport partnership provides a framework for preparing aviation infrastructure. A functioning medical service would also require clinical and operational arrangements appropriate to the patients being transported.
The Startup Behind the Project
The ePlane Company operates as Ubifly Technologies Private Limited. Established in 2019 and incubated at IIT Madras, it is developing electric aircraft for passenger travel, medical transport and cargo.
Its manufacturing and testing operations are based at the IIT Madras Discovery Campus near Chennai. The company’s published roadmap places flight testing, certification and commercialisation across 2027–2028.
Separately, on 23 September 2026, the Technology Development Board announced approval of ₹285 crore in financial support for Ubifly under the Research Development and Innovation Fund.
The wider development project has an approved cost of ₹570 crore, with the support to be provided through optionally convertible debentures. The programme is intended to advance the technology through further testing, validation and preparation for commercial deployment.
When Could Delhi-NCR Air Taxi Services Begin?
The Noida International Airport partnership announcement does not specify a commercial launch date, passenger fares or a final route network.
The next milestones are trials, progress through aircraft certification, development of operating procedures and the required approvals. The company’s wider commercialisation roadmap is a development target, rather than a confirmed start date for Delhi-NCR services.
For passengers, the eventual value will depend on total journey time, price and convenient access to landing sites. For emergency transport, reliable coordination with healthcare providers will be equally important.
The agreement gives the partners a way to develop those supporting systems while the e200X moves through its engineering programme.
